What stays on your phone
The wallpaper reads the time, battery, memory, storage, temperature, and similar readings on your phone to draw them. Those readings never leave your phone. The home screen learns which apps you open so it can put them where your thumb is; that history stays on your phone, and you can erase it in Settings. The list of creators you block stays on your phone too.
Some themes show your calendar, the song that's playing, or a summary of your notifications. FauxWall asks before it reads any of these, they're read on your phone, and they're never sent anywhere. You can turn on Personal data on the lock screen in Settings; it's off at first, so these stay hidden while your phone is locked.
What the app sends
- Downloading themes. The app asks the theme store for the list of themes and for the themes you open. The request carries nothing about you.
- Weather. Themes that show the weather ask for your approximate location. FauxWall rounds it to about 11 km and sends only that to Open-Meteo, the weather service, to get the forecast and air quality.
- Reports. When you report a theme, the app sends the theme, the reason you picked, any note you typed, and a random number made on your phone the first time it was needed. That number is not linked to your name, email, or phone.
- Purchases. If paid themes become available, the app sends FauxWall the theme, the same random number, and the payment confirmation, nothing else. The payment itself goes through Google Play, under Google's own privacy policy.
FauxWall Studio accounts
To save themes, share them, or use Ask AI, you sign in with your email address. FauxWall keeps your email, the themes you save, the name you share them under, and the record of your agreement to the community terms. If you use Ask AI, the words you type are sent to the AI service that designs the theme. You can delete your account from the Studio; that removes your email and your saved themes.
What FauxWall does not do
No ads, no ad tracking, no analytics, and no selling of data. The app does not read your contacts, messages, or photos, and it never uses your exact location.
